It would seem their handiwork came after taking the photos. Since even from poor quality image, the punched crack and abrasion above the hole should have been noticeable in the photo.
Did the pair you got match the s/n of the pair he had pictured and/or does the arm finish match the orbital finish... or did they pull a switcheroo on you and send you a different pair?

Agreed. Although OP seems to think it's just old photos, an given they plan to customize them despite the damage. I'd guess he got a considerable refund from the seller for his troubles.

Those are probably not the same pair that you received....to me this looks like a bait and switch....Dam people can’t work for their own money and have to try to scam others. I would send them back in a heartbeat if you didn’t do anymore damage to them.
