Help with Best Half Jacket 2.0 XL Lenses for Mild Colorblindness in the Outdoors

Howdy y'all, new here with a BIG need for advice. The good news is Oakley and I have both come a long way since my first pair of Oakley Minutes back in the '90s. Since then I've learned more about polarization, gotten involved in more diverse outdoor activities, and also found out I'm slightly red/green colorblind (mostly issues with not picking up the red in purple so it looks dark blue, but occasionally I'll think green is brown).

I'm in the market for some new Oakleys and when trying to choose customization online I just feel like there are too many options for me to make an educated decision. Here are my questions:

  • Is there any way to try on different Oakley lenses outside or do most storefronts just let you try them on inside? I assume they don't; hence my questions below.
  • My primary sunglasses activities are driving, trail running, fly fishing, and mountaineering in TX and CO (I have goggles for skiing). With this mix, if I'm currently looking for just one set of lenses, is polarized recommended or not? I've always wanted a better line of sight into the water when fly fishing but whenever I try on other guys' polarized shades they do help a bit with glare but nothing changes radically so I don't know if polarized lenses only help slightly or if my color blindness diminishes the polarization effect.
  • Given the above, even after making the decision to polarize or not, I have ZERO idea what lens tint is optimal or if I should choose Prizm or not. When it comes to style I like Sky Blue accents and thought that Sapphire Iridium Polarized looked dope but that could be a horrible idea for actual color optimization in my chosen environments and mild color deficiency. For an outdoors "generalist" what would be the best lenses?
Thank you in advance for the advice!

Thanks @Oaks in the backwoods! Unfortunately I don't think the lens view shows off all the options for lenses in Prizm/non-Prizm or polarized/non-polarized in all colors available and definitely doesn't show all options with choice of background (half of them are golf greens and I don't golf). Anyone have any real-world experience to lean on?

Unfortunately, Oakley's lens views are just photoshopped pictures with boosted saturation and contrast on the right pane.

This forum has a lot of helpful pictures posted by members which can help understand the various tints. I'd recommended a google search specific to this forum with the lens tint you want to see.
Eg., the below query will help you find posts related to the tint of Prizm Tungsten lenses.
prizm tungsten tint site:www.oakleyforum.com

You can also search for comparisons, eg
Prizm trail vs prizm road site:www.oakleyforum.com

Good luck with your search!

Oakley’s website is notoriously bad at showing accurate and correct information, would follow @kmbijit advise and look here.

If you want to use these for fishing, then Polarized would be my recommendation.

The Prizm Sapphires you mentioned are nice, full sunlight lenses. If you are generally in full sunlight, you want want to stick to the higher % filtering lenses, like a Sapphire, Black Iridium, Prizm Black/Daily, Ruby.

You mentioned color issues, would recommend you printing or bring some paper or pictures with you to the Vault/store when trying on lenses. Then on/off see how the lenses shift the light, and what is good for your eyes.

With your frame of choice, you should have lots of lens options available.

Good luck and post up your findings to help others in similar searches :)

Weird! Could just be on my end. Do you have a link you can share? When I looked at it it only really showed 5 or so options of lenses with that view.

Found a few I took in Hawaii for you.

First is a clear RX lens with UV filtering only.
2nd is a DWP (Deep Water Prizm) (blue lens)
3rd is OOBIP (Black Iridium Polarized) (black lens)
4th is Prizm Maritime Polarized (Green lens)
5th is 24k (gold lens)
6th is Ice (Blue lens)
