Howdy y'all, new here with a BIG need for advice. The good news is Oakley and I have both come a long way since my first pair of Oakley Minutes back in the '90s. Since then I've learned more about polarization, gotten involved in more diverse outdoor activities, and also found out I'm slightly red/green colorblind (mostly issues with not picking up the red in purple so it looks dark blue, but occasionally I'll think green is brown).
I'm in the market for some new Oakleys and when trying to choose customization online I just feel like there are too many options for me to make an educated decision. Here are my questions:
I'm in the market for some new Oakleys and when trying to choose customization online I just feel like there are too many options for me to make an educated decision. Here are my questions:
- Is there any way to try on different Oakley lenses outside or do most storefronts just let you try them on inside? I assume they don't; hence my questions below.
- My primary sunglasses activities are driving, trail running, fly fishing, and mountaineering in TX and CO (I have goggles for skiing). With this mix, if I'm currently looking for just one set of lenses, is polarized recommended or not? I've always wanted a better line of sight into the water when fly fishing but whenever I try on other guys' polarized shades they do help a bit with glare but nothing changes radically so I don't know if polarized lenses only help slightly or if my color blindness diminishes the polarization effect.
- Given the above, even after making the decision to polarize or not, I have ZERO idea what lens tint is optimal or if I should choose Prizm or not. When it comes to style I like Sky Blue accents and thought that Sapphire Iridium Polarized looked dope but that could be a horrible idea for actual color optimization in my chosen environments and mild color deficiency. For an outdoors "generalist" what would be the best lenses?
