Import and export taxes from Australia to USA/EUROPE/CANADA?

How many different types of taxes and levies should ordinary people cede to the state?
If even taxes on transactions between private people are taxed.
I bought rubber for my XX from an OF member.
Then I had to go to my local customs office in Munich.
Leave work early for your run to the Customs office.
30miles drive during commuter traffic = 45min.
The customs office closes at 4:30 p.m.
If you are not there at 3:30 a.m. you will not be able get you package because there are 15-20 in front of you.
Some come prepared some don't even speak german.
How long everyone needs is uncertain.
You are up after 45min. wait.
Open the package in front of an officer and explain what the 6 little rubbers are for.
Pay $10, - for the small envelope and get back to the highway.
The traffic is worse now.
All in all a ****tty afternoon.

Transactions between private people should not to be taxed.

I sold my whole x metal collection on this forum. All of the buyers were located outside Australia. They asked me to put a lower value on the customs section. Was happy to do so. I don’t believe they paid any taxes but if they had it would be a lesser amount given the lesser value on the customs card

I honestly do not know how people manage to live there and enjoy life. So much taxation and the feeling of being nickle and dimed!

Agree totally on the private transaction comment. You don’t pay tax when going to a yard sale, do you?

It's different from country to country.
Inside the European Union there is no tax i'm aware of.
But Norway (not in EU) i'm normally living in except 3 mounts when i'm in Turkey you have to pay tax for value over NOK 350,-
But this year this limit is gone so you have to pay tax anyway now..
Only way is if the seller declare total value incl. shipping cost under NOK 1000,- and mark it as a "GIFT" you can get away with it.

I done like this on ebay few times but not all sellers agree to do so.
The reason some sellers do not want to do so is that: If the package gets lost they can not demand more than what it's declared.
