Not at all! Happy to talk through it - How would you define those rules? What is "scalping" vs. reselling? If someone buys it for $100 today and sells it for $120 tomorrow is that scalping? What if they sell it a month from now? A year from now? What if it is $200?

I believe in economics - supply and demand. If someone is willing to pay a price that is what it is worth.
I just don't understand why you don't think that's a douchebag thing to do. It's obvious when they do it. It's obvious they make a living off doing it. If you wouldn't allow it to happen here then maybe they would be a little discouraged and the rest of us would be able to get that same **** at a vault and not have to pay double just because some assclown bought them all up. Your reply really makes me miss Hot Head Todd the Mod.

This is the same complaint I've had for years. You don't want to regulate it? Fine, I'll do it. Make me a moderator over sales threads and I'll clean that **** up. That or give me a refund for my premium membership and let me go on my way. I just can't stand to see this forum let these people act that way. I know of ZERO other forums that allow that **** to slide. BECAUSE PEOPLE DONT WANT THAT TRASH AROUND THEM.

Not what I said at all - I 100% think its a bad thing to do. But how would you objectively define that. Rules can't just be subjective and emotional because you don't like someone. I revert to my earlier example. What is defined as scalping?

Is it profiting? Is it profiting after a day? A month? A Year? Is it when you make $10? Or $100? Because I guarantee everyone has made a profit at some point on Oakleys.

Example: Someone in Asia wants a pair of Gascans they sell at the Vault, a member here grabs it and sell its to them for $10 more. Was this scalping? Who was harmed? The member who bought them in Asia was willing to pay more because they can't get them near them, the member who went to the vault got $10 more for their time, gas, effort, etc.

So I revert to my question, irregardless of whether I think it's right or wrong, how would you define scalping?

No man. You're dancing around it. I'm not being emotional because I don't like the guy, I don't know that guy to like him or not like him. YOUR rule said no scalping and YOU defined that as buying up all of something and then selling it here for more. I don't know why you're now trying to make it more difficult than it needs to be. You want a time frame? 6 months. I just pulled it out of my ass and it has nothing to do with anyone but if you make everyone adhere to it then everyone is equal.

This has nothing to with a guy in Asia buying anything. He never had access to the vault to begin with. **** him.

And I revert to my previous, make me a mod and I'll regulate it without bias.

I agree with you that 6 months is just pulled out of your ass, and how are we supposed to track it? Literally track how much everyone pays for something and sells it for? Going to be operating like the feds in here soon. :vinsent:

If someone is willing to pay more for an item - than that is what it's worth. No different than selling your house. The market pays what it's willing to. Once again, no one is being hurt here whatsoever, everyone is mutually agreeing on prices in these deals. If you think the price is high, pass. Eventually if everyone passes, then the seller will either not sell or lower the price.

To put restrictions on prices, or when people can buy or sell would get crazy and be borderline socialism. Who are we to police when people buy or sell?

Another example:
Seller 1 lists a pair of Gascans for $50, they want to sell them fast so they price it cheaply, Buyer 1 immediately purchases them recongizing the cheap price. Seller 1 is happy, they needed the money for whatever is reason. Buyer 1 is happy, they got a good deal.

Next month Buyer 1 goes to sell the Gascans for $80, maybe Buyer 1 needs the money, maybe they just think they could make a bit, maybe they just don't like the sunglasses. BUT because they are priced at about the market, it takes 14 days to sell at the $80. Now Seller 1 could of probably gotten the $80, but they didn't want to wait, they were willing to discount for the money now. Buyer 1 was willing to wait for whatever reason. Still in the second deal, a new buyer was willing to pay $80. Everyone got what they wanted.

I don't see anyone who gets harmed here. And even if we said no Buyer 1 you can't sell bc you just bought 1 month ago, does that really stop them? Wouldn't they just go to eBay? Or somewhere else? No one is being forced into deals here, everyone mutually agrees because they are happy with the price/item/etc

Selling a current item for 2.5x the sticker cost isn't scalping? This ain't vintage.

I can see this is gonna go nowhere. You had a good rule and people break it so you throw it out.

Prepare for every scammer or ****ty deal to be called out. That rule needs to go too.

So if it's a current item, why would anyone pay that? Why not go direct to Oakley to buy it at retail? Unless it's no longer sold/sold out etc.

What is the point then?

So in that example if I literally look on Oakley.com and list an item for 2x here or on ebay or whatever 1) I'm an idiot for that but 2) Who ever buys without every checking Oakley or any other website is an even bigger idiott.

I mean if I post my house for sale for $1M and it's worth $250K and someone buys it. Did I scam them?
