MSK3 nose strip replacement

Has anyone successfully replaced the metal strip in their MSK3 nose piece?
I am reluctant to cut it open.

Why would you replace it? Did it bend too many times and snap?

Yes, it snapped and no, I haven't replaced it yet. That's why I am asking if anybody has done that before.

I think you'd be better off just replacing the filter rather than replacing the wire

I replace filters frequently. The nose seal leaks without the the metal strip holding it tight, thus defeating the purpose of not fogging up the lenses.
