Polishing

I somehow made it darker and scratched it up, now that lustrous mirrored look is gone. (The arm on the left is the one I tried to polish) I’m gonna send it to Bonz I think. It was a really nice polished blue frame and I have the box...I don’t want to make it any worse.

Use the dry scotch pads first then use these felt pads with Mothers. A polished Juliet shouldn't take too much work.

Thank you! I happened to order these yesterday, so they should be here today. I only have one blackened felt dremel wheel, maybe some fresh ones with the mothers will brighten it back up. If not I’m leaving it to the pros.B3F668DF-1EE8-4910-B322-3273838BCDF5.jpeg

Tbh that looks like a 400grit polished finish, so its right Youve done nothing wrong. Mjt42 said he polishes on 1200.
if im doing a vault depending on how scratched it is id start on 400/800 then work 1200-2000-3000 before polish.

theres no right or wrong way, its just figuring out What works for you. Tbh 400 isnt a finishing grade imo.

Are you looking at restoring the polished carbon or removing the coating completely?
I had a rough pair of carbon and removed the coating using 1200 grit wet and dry then finer grades of scotch pads in my Dremel.

The final shine was with Mothers polish which made a massive difference to the final result.
Here's the result after approx 2 hours of work.View attachment 724476View attachment 724477
Nice. I had mine restored a few years ago and I asked the guy if mine could have a polished shine to it "like chrome" I told him but I think all he did was strip off the coating. The bridge and temples he did correctly, I wanted them gun metal black but the rest was suppose to be polished with a mirror finish.
