What Are You Driving ?

Grampaā€™s new toy.

No worries, buddy.

I have always been into cars but as I have gotten older, speed doesnā€™t have the appeal it once did, I not quite favour technical stuff and 4x4 are cool, no two ways about it!

There is a lift kit installed on my old bus and the extra clearance comes in handy through deeper puddles etc.

Be cool to see some pics of your project, dude.
This project took a bit longer than I thought, but came together nicely.

She is an old girl (02) crossed 225k miles, and had a leaking Rack N Pinion, blown tie rods and ball joints, so it was time to rejuvenate

Took the opportunity to add a custom Power Steering system as well while everything was open. (This is needed for the HydroBoost braking upgrade Iā€™m planning next)

(that lower control arms ball joint requires drilling out x4 3/4ā€ hardened steel *rivets*......fun fun.....each side took several hours)

During the project, my front wheels were placed under the truck as backup safety blocks. (Always use Jack stands!!)
Those were stolen, so had the fun challenge to determine new custom wheels for my custom lowered truck :)

@MachineHead here are a few pics :)

Steering is super butter smooth now, with those new Moog components and a 100% entirely brand new Power Steering system :)

Why not use a torch for the rivets?

It's burns away quick. Especially if you are using acetylene
Next time Iā€™ll take to a machine shop to press em out for $40 - but this was during lockdown.

Service manual stated drilling.
For the 2nd time I took a grinder to both sides, then impact hammered out the remainder of the pins in the middle. Two fused entirely to the face, so had to drill those out....

Donā€™t really have any torches, except the yellow gas for doing Copper sweating....
