I read the article too, and it clearly states he burned "a BLM banner", not "the BLM banner that belonged to the church". Maybe it's the way it's written that could make one understand that the crime is burning a BLM banner because it's a BLM banner, not because it belonged to someone else. Yahoo news after all

I have to disagree. In no less than 3 places it states that it belonged to a church. Furthermore it has statements from the accused indicating that had he known it came from a church, he wouldn't have burned it.

You're not getting the point, yahoo news makes it sound like the crime was burning a BLM flag. If a BLM banner was not involved, this probably wouldn't have made the news
