4.0 display case rescue and rebuild / customization

Getting the outer walls put in tonight, front will be mostly solid and back will be all solid metal to offset the weight of the door. Want to have all walls and doors done tonight. Going to reuse the old plexi inside to keep dust out

I always wondered how people got those display cases.do stores throw them out? do you buy them from a retailer?
Isn't it still considered oakley property?

I’d be willing to bet a lot of this kind of thing is auctioned off in bulk or just given away to an employee when a store closes. Then someday the employee gives it away or sells it.

I know Walt Disney World has a whole department for this kinda thing when stuff is considered excess to needs. Gotten more than one prop piece that way. I have tea cup from the Haunted Mansion as a gift from Cast Member who was supposed to have been given it as a departure gift.

I bought my first one from an oakley rep, when the new cases come in I’m assuming the spine cases she was in charge of “disposing” of it aka have her husband pick it up in his truck and sell it on marketplace. Paid 300 it was a single wide but they threw in about 20 clear tier 3 stands but I had to drive 4 hours round trip to Erie PA area needless to say the wife wasn’t pleased when I got home lmao 😂

My second one was a guy that used to own a smoke shop was scraping it I seen him driving down the road and pulled a U turn and followed him and ended up buying it from him on the spot it was left over from liquidating his business.
