Appraisal: Oakley X-Metal Mars – M Serial (Mxxxxx) – Black Iridium – Employee Issue

Agreed. I’d want a solid close up of the nose bridge. Even with small flaws a Mars is a Mars and valuable. But these details are what allows a realistic price estimate.
I’ll attach some close ups. I see what you mean about the part on the bridge but that’s where I’m at a loss with these These feel very “raw” like they weren’t meant to be sold.. The other pictures are on the inside around the nose part and the metal doesn’t look smooth or even. The metal seems more rough like they weren’t polished or even finished I guess.. Sorry I’m clueless and hope what I’m saying makes sense.

No I understand exactly what you are saying. It does look like a raw “first draft” if you will.

Also the pockmarks showed up on some early versions of X-Metals. Old school if you will.

Typically a smudge on the nostril like that could mean someone did a poor line up and the pin pusher messed up the hole.

But as I think X-Man was alluding to…paraphrasing…might have been in the initial stages and a raw casting or something along those lines. Or just a poorly treated Mars Standard! It’s all theory anyway.

Either way it’s a Mars…and they are a collectible item. Someone like me would want it as a beater to play with and customize…others would find it interesting for its possible origins.

But Lopaka is right on for loose price range. In good shape…depending on box, coin, paperwork, lenses, rubber set condition 600.00 to 800.00. but these are a horse of a different color if you will but don’t lose heart…they are still a Mars!
