Brain Dead Straight Jacket & Plantaris

I will say... after taking sometime on this. I got some bad news... I do NOT think this is some "sneak peak" brain dead x oakley collab 😭. I think they just used unreleased Oakley frames and/or old school frames. I have some info to back up my thoughts below for my O Bros.

1. Plantaris is the dead give away:
  • We have seen this exact model before when they had that release party in Milan where they showed off this unreleased Plantaris model (see my post here, 1st screenshot below)
2. Brain Dead took other photos of their Fall / Winter release with older models. This points me to believe sadly the flame NSJs are just the older flame
  • They took photos of the Japan Exclusive EJ Redux (2nd screenshot below) and another one with X-Metal R1s (3rd Screenshot below). We know for a FACT they aren't releasing R1s even though that would be amazing lol
3. And lastly... Brain Dead is pretty good on making sure they announce any potential eye glass collab with Oakley.
  • I don't see them "teasing" it in their fall/winter look book. That's just me... They never did this with their previous collabs so why now?? But who knows...
I will say though, the Flame NSJ is the one throwing me off since it the flames do look white and we haven't seen that lens combo before. But like the OP said, maybe they are "a green emerald with swapped lenses" and it's the studio lighting and how they edited the pictures that make the flames look white.
Just my 2 cents that no one asked for, but perhaps will help solve the mystery 😅 :neo:

You’re probably right about them just being unreleased!💔 But definitely not an emerald flame pair🤔 those flames for sure look white to me and the frames themselves look more matte than the jet black finish emerald flame have. But unfortunately everything else makes sense. Still going to hope we see a release though🙏🏼

Looks very nice! Just hope I can stop by their LA studio to see if they have it haha. On their IG post for the sunglasses section, I don’t see it unfortunately, maybe it’s only online.

Fingers crossed!

Thats a good analysis but im still not 100% convinced since the email blast they sent out includes pretty clear shots of the straight jacket flames. They truly do look like something brain dead would cook up and they certainly are not emerald as I thought they were. Im hoping they do actually release… but who knows! Fingers crossed 🤞 I guess we can just hope for the best!
