...very kind of you to let me notice the “famous different hinges”... I’ve already read all the post I was able to find here before writing this post...
I don’t have them with me now as I’m on vacation, but I remember I bought my pair in London in 1997 or 1998...
So they MUST be the first model...

Incredible is that I’ve taken the only picture unuseful to see the hinges!!!

If you bought them in 97 then they can only be the First Gen. New Eye Jackets came out in 99.

Well, now I only need arms and earsocks... 22 years later... amazing!
I myself broke the arms... otherwise, I must say, this sunglasses would be eternal!

I'm affraid the hinges on the First Gen are renowned for being 'flimsy', hence the New Eye Jacket, which at first glance is easily mistaken for the Eye Jacket, other than the colourway(some were only made for the New) and the hinge shape they are the same.
