Hello O-fellows,

I have a question today, so I am posting this inquiry here.

Recently, I have taken an interest in the Minute Gen 2 and have been collecting various pieces.
Among them, I noticed that some have a different hinge shape.
When I searched online, I found a post on Reddit claiming that this is a “fake spot” often found in counterfeits.

However, I also own a pair that I believe to be genuine, which has this type of hinge, so I wanted to ask about it here.

Below is the hinge typically found on a standard Minute 1.0 gen 2.

And below is the hinge that a Reddit post categorized as a “fake spot.”

This hinge has a different shape from the standard one, and the inner part of the icon (the inside of the “O”) appears to be lower in height compared to the standard hinge.

Could this really be a fake spot, or is it simply a variation that occurred depending on the production period?

What does the nose bridge Icon Text look like? As far as my experience goes with these, if the Icon Text is correct then they are Genuine. I've yet to find a perfect Icon Text on a FAKE.

The frame without lenses is suspected to be a fake model.

Both are Crystal Blue, but the hinge shape and icon differ, and the suspected fake product has slightly larger orbitals.

I am not sure how the stretch logo would appear, but both are similar.

Of course, both have similar colors.
Some people refer to products with the same hinge design as the suspected fake as “Minute 1.0 Gen3.”

Although my Oakley experience is still limited and I cannot be certain, the suspected fake pair also has very good
quality.

And the Man has spoken!

The reason why the icon is raised on the 3rd gen is for further reinforcement on the inside of that area as they were having issues with temples snapping. If you look inside and behind the icon you will see an additional “stress bar” added which resulted in the raised icon on the outside.

Thank you for your clear explanation!
This was exactly the information I was looking for, though it was not easy to find.

I only had my doubts because I once saw someone post the third-generation hinge design as a Fake Spot in another community.

Once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge with me 🫡
