G30 could be considered a golf lens however I dont believe that was the original intent. It has been used in a few non specific applications. It was however used in golf specific models along with slate, VR28 & VR28BI and some other colors.

According to this there was two JG's. The earlier serial numbers had gold lenses. Is yours considered an 'early' serial? Does your lenses look gold and not G30?
