O-Bros,

If you're like me, you love NSJs! However, there's a slight problem many of us have ran into. Please continue reading.

Scenario 1: You've just purchased a NSJ from eBay or exchange. Lens and frame are a 10/10 given its age, but it comes without earsocks.
Scenario 2: You found your NSJs from the back of your closet hidden under all the Playboy magazines you collected since the early 2000s and you find the earsocks are sticky, gooey, and tearing (and you want to replace them).

You go to eBay or exchange to search for black earsocks and you can only find rootbeer. I have a temporary solution for you.

I purchased a donor SJ (broken frame and arm) hoping the earsocks would fit my newly acquired NSJ (that came without earsocks). I quickly learned the SJ earsocks are (1) too long and (2) too big for the NSJ.

I read about @Babush911's solution of installing heat shrink tubing and decided to try it myself (Note: credit goes to him/her). I visited my local hardware store and purchased size 3/16. This shrinks to 3/32.

Side-by-side, you can see the tube is longer than the earsock area. You can install the tube, measure, and cut. Or estimate and chip away at it until it's a good length.

Last step is to apply heat. I tried using a hair dryer, but it didn't work well for me. The tube shrunk a little, but not enough to hug the arm. I whipped out the heat gun and it finished the job in about 1-2 minutes.

I hope this helps someone and feel free to ask questions.

Scenario 3 you took a pic of your foot to boost sales. @GoldenRod you started this trend.

Always Appreciate little insights like this to help a Brother out 😎🤟🏻🥃

Nice work!

Maybe a second layer will bring it to a better thickness? Make it slightly longer to give a better profile on the ends....
Thank you and good ideas! If I took a little more time, I could've cut the tubing at an angle that contours with the arm tip. If this temporary fix becomes permanent, I'll redo it with a second layer and angled cuts ✂️

Be careful what kind of heat shrink you use. The ones we get for electrical work has some kind of glue that seals the ends when shrunken.🤙
That's good info. I didn't know that! 🤙

Ever heard of OnlyFeet? 😏
