Bought a pair of Ducati Monster Dog today for $50. Sadly, they are WELL worn. Some scrapes and pock marks on the frame, red icons nearly rubbed back to chrome, and the arms are loose. I'm thinking of running 1000 or less grit sandpaper over the worst areas then polishing with some Plastx and a dremel. I'm guessing someone somewhere has done this before but I couldn't exactly find this method's results in the threads.
Questions being, what is the lowest grit sandpaper that can be used just before using a paste or gel polish to return the sanding marks to a shine? Also I'm just going to scrape off the rest of the remaining red paint on the icons and have them be chrome, anyone have any tips on how best to do that? Not expecting to make these a show pair just want to get them back to 70% or so to be daily worn.
