Dishwashing soap is what i use.

I mixed the dishwashing liquid with water first to dilute and use just my hands (no gloves) to clean and rinse them. Or microfiber bag to clean them. Just don’t put too much pressure.

I too have always used dawn dish soap. I don’t dilute it, just put a drop or 2 on each lens after wetting the lens, rub it on both sides of the lens and wash off with warm water. I have some lenses that are 7-8 years old and have been washing them that way for years and it works excellent.
