Let’s start with Rose. He bet on baseball but he bet on everything and there has never been any evidence to suggest that he bet on his team to lose. Should have been reinstated and inducted while he was alive.
Bonds. *******. Yes. Used PED’s, no question. But, he was a 30-30 guy before he went to SF and got on the CREAM and CLEAR. plus, pitchers were using, too, so it’s a level playing field. Let’s say that PED’s allowed him to play 15 more games a season and hit 20 more home runs a season. Run his stats….still a HOF’er.
Same argument for Big Mac, except: he was already wrecking balls into the upper decks. He very likely had more years in his career, and more productive years since injury was an issue with him at his mid-career point, with PED use. Without PED’s, he’s a borderline HOF’er but on that equal playing field; he’s in.
Not in: Palmeiro. Classic accumulater. He would have been out of baseball 7-8 years earlier without Winstrol. Also not in: Clemons. He was done when Boston dumped him and then he blamed his PED usage on his wife. Come on man.
Come at me, bro.
