There is some Collab fatigue, but one thing I do like is that it’s killing the Scalper game, and everyone who actually intends to enjoy and wear them now has a lot of choices and time to buy. After the Undefeated flop and this one moving slow I think Oakley has finally worn out peoples tolerance for boring and over priced crap
We are all paying the scalper price now and the scalper is SuxalloticaThere is some Collab fatigue, but one thing I do like is that it’s killing the Scalper game, and everyone who actually intends to enjoy and wear them now has a lot of choices and time to buy.
They are not bad by any means just not the crazy look of the Plazma Radar EV year and the moonscape type stuff... I just don't see it this year. For Braindead this is really tame and conservative of a design but I would absolutely love to see something like these with other collaborations except I would have wanted orange flames. I mean, that is not allot to ask for being that the natural color of flames happens to be orange. We get grey though... From the moment I first saw the X Silver in the spring I have been trying to wrap my head around why Lux thinks that we would want not just one but two totally grey flame NSJ's. The best they give us is ruby lenses that I hope are a batch leaning on the purple hue side not Fruby. Sorry guys that I am negative sounding and all but I am just tired of being expected to hand over $600 average bucks for a release give or take $200 and be given bland and not much thought put into the designs. I am worn out myself.@XxRuMKaxX This is from one of the boys on Insta. I think the Plantaris looks nice personally. The online renderings/photos always drive me crazy.I was able to secure an SJ for myself with 30% off I had banked. I really like how they look, although I would have preferred some Red or Orange Flames with matching text. Nonetheless, I still enjoy the packaging and I love the Ruby lenses they have been putting on the collabs.

Agreed on all point bud. There has been a gradual slide in design over the past I would say 3-4 years. Use to be these releases were almost always way different and cool and certainly colorful. Example being the Palace EJ Redux. Over time they dropped things in creativity piece by piece until we got to just plain colors with sometimes interesting lenses. Now we are at the end of the slide and have grey scale color patterns and black or grey iridium with the occasional venture to tungsten. I am glad neither of these have the black or grey lenses but Tungsten is getting stale too. The only one this year I thought had some care in detail and was so interesting I wish I had grabbed a pair for wearing is the Undefeated Plantaris. The finish on it is reminiscent of FMJ and has a sharp and crisp blue color to it. The Sapphire lenses ice the cake but I am almost certain Undefeated took control of the design and picking the finish. Perhaps the dull colors are part of a trend I am too old to know anything about but I hope the trend changes soon if it is that.I'm basically with you man. But here's how I look at it.
1. The MUZM had to be a little subtle because they're reintroducing an older model plus it looked cool as hell with the black and white promo pics.
2. The Undefeated was too wild for people apparently. I loved it, it's the first stripe on an SJ 99 I think ever and first White Bengal in 17 years to my knowledge.
3. This release is absolutely on par with Satisfy EJ Matte Olive w/ Ruby or Rootbeer w/Black, Tungsten, Low Light and people love those. If this is boring then those are boring (I like them all personally).
As far as price is concerned I agree they are pricey but compare them to Prada, Versace, Gucci. They're all $400-$500+ and are purely aesthetic with no resale or community.
Lastly, a pair of Flame Straight Jackets costs $160 in 2000. With inflation that's $300 in 2025. I paid $200 for mine (with coupon) and it comes with a special box, case, and bag.
You're totally right, I think the current trends are definitely blacks and greys with neutral earth tones. But Gen Z is definitely more into the Y2K aesthetic (my favorite). Lets hope Oakley can catch up.Agreed on all point bud. There has been a gradual slide in design over the past I would say 3-4 years.
