Cutting lenses by hand (a guide)

If you only ****ed up two, you're winning lol

Good job man.
Thank you sir
Very tricky really needs practice
I spent the entire day just figuring it out, every frame is different, i only did with an r1 (my fave frame) with SL lenses which does not have enough room.
I did fuqed up 4 new lenses in total  But worth every bit, now i can cut my own:drinks:.

Dude Romeo lenses scare me. I did one set of Jade way back when and I did a set for GP99 that came out meh. I’ve been putting off cutting an Ice set I got because I know that bevel is a ****. I really hate cutting X Metal lenses.

Have you ever done a Hatchet? Talk about a **** bevel. I did one for Trump that looks like my four year old cut. I have to practice a lot more on those.

 Yup them bevel is a b1tch, i must admit it’s hard asf!!!!

Thank's again for your tutorial.
It has brought me so many new opportunity.

I have cut now more than 10 sets of glasses.
I used a Dremel and the Wheel Grinder.
I prefer the Wheel Grinder and Belt Sander.
With the Dremel you can't see the your markings so good and you can slip easy and scratch the lens. With the Wheel Grinder our markings stay clean of dust and burrs are pulled away from the markings.
Finding the right masking tape is not so easy.
FrogTape does not sticks to hydrophobic lenses.
So for the the lenses in the pics I had to use a standard masking tape.
The FatCat lenses in my Avatar are hand cut.
The once in the pics. are for a Straight Jacket II.
Took less than 15min. to cut.

This looks easier than many others posts!

Thank you, coming from the Master means a lot to me.

If would not be such a digital moron I would upload a short Video.
It shows how fast and precise the wheel cuts away material with little pressure.
Nearly impossible to scratch the lens or make a mistake.
As longes you leave the Line you are good.
Important detail is to protect/mask both sides of the lens.

That’s awesome man. I couldn’t use that big wheel lol the dremel lets me have better control around the edges but whatever works!

You’re right about frog tape. I only use it on old lenses where the iridium may flake off. Even then it’s a gamble.

That’s funny you’re doing an NSJ2 there, I did 4 of those yesterday.

Just try the it you will surprised how easy it is.
Obviously you are better with the dremel than me.
I slipped a few times and did I not have two layers of tape on the lens i would have fcuked up the lens.

Oh I’ve ruined plenty of lenses learning the process lol. Had a good friend send a **** load to practice on.
