GMT watch repair?

Not just a wall colour

Hi all.

I would like to have my GMT repaired for re-use.
I have been around the watch repair industry in New Zealand and there are no parts nor interest to remedy so I need to think further abroad. Seeking recommendations of where / whom I can send this sentimental watch for repair.

Thanks

The movements in these watches are very common usually. I'd start at a reputable local place and have it looked at

Unfortunately finding a movement for GMT watches is very difficult.
I gave up after 1 1/2 years and sold the watch for parts.

Dejavu .... I think we were just talking about this... seems times have changed and the only way to fix a broken GMT movement is with a working GMT movement which means rendering that watch useless so unless its a physically beat and broken GMT scraper with a working movement my money is on you need to acquire a Minute Machine and bury that one.

Safest bet is to look for a trusted watchmaker watch shop if you are not a hands on type person and ask for an estimate to repair it. It could be something as simple as the spring being broken and requiring a service.
Another avenue would be to look at the movement model by opening the caseback. Likely its a sort of ETA or similar like a Sellita to find the model and replace with a different movement.

After a brief look it is not even a mechanical movement but a quartz one, start with the battery, then if that doesnt work take a look at the movement details and find the model, should be easy to replace

Japanese movement so likely a seiko/ miyota?

Hi Sirs, did you find someone to Fix it. Please, do let me know, thanks.....

Hi all,
Same issue. Original owner GMT Stealth. Bought it new in 2003, stopped working by 2006. I’ve taken it into watch repair shops and have been told this movement isn’t made anymore. But I’ve been holding onto it because it’s an amazing piece. Any other options? Can I buy any other GMT (non-stealth, different color face, etc) and take it to a shop to have the movement swapped out?
I refuse to dump it.
Thanks all
