Half-Jacket frames/lenses question

Hi there,

First post here, I hope this is the right place to be asking this question!

I have an original pair of half-jacket frames (1.0, I believe), with a pair of prescription lenses, that I use for running. The lenses are reactive lenses, and so I can use them at any time of day. Although expensive, the lenses were (and still are) well worth the money paid several years ago.

The lenses are still in great condition, but the frames have seen better days; my question, therefore, is: will my prescription lenses fit in to any of the newer half-jacket style frames? I fear not, but I live in hope! Failing that, does anyone know where I can get a pair of original half-jacket frames from?

No they will NOT fit into a half jacket 2.0. You can find a half jacket 1.0 frame on ebay or here on the exchange once you meet the exchange requirements.

Like Trump stated, they won’t fit. However, the original Half Jacket 1.0 frame is pretty readily available, and pretty cheap! What’s wrong with your current frame?

+1 to each of these above statements.

If your lenses are still in good shape just find another HJ1.0 frame. They are classics and an awesome frame. I have had a handful of them and ran everything through them. There are plenty of guys here that have a pair that they would sell you.

Or an R2 frame if you want to drop the coin. OEM HJ lenses fit in the R2. However as your lenses are RX, they may or may not work.

Just a note - if it's the rubbers on your frame that are in bad shape those are easily found and replaced.

I think he means half-x? I don’t see how they would fit in a R2 considering how the lenses come to a point toward the hinges

I've never tried it myself as my R2 lens screws were stripped. Now that they're fixed, i could try it. I read you just need to take the screw gaskets out of the R2 to be able to hinge the Half Jacket lens in there.
