Hey Everyone!
Newbie here. I've joined this forum for watch-related reasons... specifically because of the Oakley Jury watch:
I discovered this watch earlier today, and I'm actually not entirely sure how it happened. I remember seeing an ad in the morning for a new Casio, the G-Shock GA-V01. I thought it looked cool in a Y2K sort of way, but then I read that it has a 58mm case, which is a no-no for my wrists (I don't necessarily have small wrists but I do like watches that look a little bit more "delicate"). I must've seen somebody recommend the Oakley Jury as an alternative somewhere; next thing I know it's 8pm and I've lost half the evening researching/trying to find listings for the Oakley Jury.
I'm absolutely enamored with this watch at the moment and I've ran the gamut perusing this forum and reading O-review to learn more about it. I think a lot of the Oakley watches are cool but THIS ONE in particular really does it for me. It's got that Oakley weirdness/coolness, but it's also a lot less "loud" than some of the other Oakley watches. I think it hits a nice balance where it's unique but timeless. I like the Judge and the GMT as well, but both are a little bit larger and a little bit meaner-looking, which I have to deduct points for due to my sissy-tendencies. The Timebomb is cool but I will never be able to afford it.
I've specifically got my eyes set on an Oakley Jury I with polished finish, sunburst white face, and the METAL BAND. Unfortunately it seems like metal-banded Jury's are in short supply on the second hand market. I've searched all evening and only managed to find two watches in/near to the spec I want. One of them's a Jury II (I don't love the numbering and dials but I could deal), and the other is being sold locally 5 hours away form me (both ways, yuck). Both of them are $550 even. I've found some Jury's around 200-300 but they don't have the metal band... unfortunately that band kind of IS the watch to me. it reminds me of an HR Giger painting, or The Arbiter's armor from Halo. And it doesn't look like the bands ever go on sale on their own (makes sense), so if I want one I'll just have to PAY UP.
I'm a recent college grad working my first big boy job. On one shoulder I have an angel telling me that it would be irresponsible to spend that much on a watch, that my phone is the only watch I need, and that it would be stupid to make such a large impulse purchase on an item I didn't even know existed 12 hours ago. On the other shoulder is a demon telling me that this thing looks cool as f*** (can we swear here?), that I have the money for it right now, that if I don't buy one right now they'll all get sold, nobody will ever put one up for sale ever again, I'll never own one, and my life will be miserable. Decisions decisions decisions...
Anyways, sorry for the rant. I had to get that energy out, now I can hopefully go on a walk and forget about this until at least tomorrow. I might do the stupid thing and pull the "buy" trigger, but I'm definitely going to sleep on it before I do. You may never hear from me again, but if I do end up copping one, you guys will be the first to know and I'll include pictures!
