Hello!
I have gotten cheap rootbeer Four S - user condition, but I dont mind as I want to wear them. The thing is, the glasses are fitted with prescription lenses, which I will need to replace before wearing. The lefthand lens has an O etching, so I'm assuming the installment was made by Oakley dealer - which is a good sign.
However, my main concern is getting these possibly glass lenses out of this old stiff plastic frame. Possibly the two being stuck together after 20 something years. And, possibly breaking something while separating them.
Are there any tried and tested techniques on how to most safely do this? Should I heat the glasses with hairdryer to soften the plastic? While here, I would like to ask for replacement lenses recommendations. On eBay, there are plastic Fuse lenses, but are almost always sold out - any thoughts? Should I have them made by a local optitian and maybe ask them to do the replacing as well? I can't comment further on the state of my frame, as it is currently in the mail. Can't wait to get them.
Thank you and BR
