Is it a good idea to get x-metal oakleys as an everyday piece?

So basically the situation is that I recently got a pair of my first oakleys(e wire 2.0) and love them so far. I was also looking at x-metal models and felt like I never seen more weird-looking stylish shades. At the same time the prices and threads on this forum make it obvious that they are mostly a piece that would lie on a shelf most of the time as a small piece of art and that its not smth that ppl wear actively because of their collectible value. Am I wrong or is it really not the best idea to get them just as an element of fashion I would regularly wear?

Prices are over the top these days. That's for sure. And ebay prices have spilled over onto this forum as well. Not sure what to tell you. Be patient and wait for a good deal or bite the bullet.

Welcome…price, value, what’s cheap or expensive depends on the individual (…and if I can get philosophical for a moment…where ya are in life). I wear my X-Metals daily…but I am no shelf collector. I get it, I use it. Heh…I’m also 65 and retired.

Keep your eyes peeled (here) for a beater Juliet…best place to start IMHO if you’d like to try X-Metals. Personally I’d not start on eekBay for X-Metals till you get a better feel for what’s what. Too many fakes out there.

Ok, thanks for the reply. What would you call a good price? Im in europe and I've seen some originals on vinted for around 300-350 but wasn't sure if I should buy or wait for an even lower price

$300-350 seems to be about where Juliet's are these days. All other models would be more, so ANY X-Metal in that range would be good these days. The frames are virtually bulletproof, so depending on cosmetic condition, after refurbishment, lenses and rubbers, you'll have a new pair of glasses.

(Worth noting: That was about the price of these glasses 25 years ago, so adjusted for inflation, still a good deal.)

300 to 350 is usually the going rate, you sometimes can find cheaper, but usually need work to get back to a wearable pair

Titanium will bond to your face if worn for longer than an hour. Was in the hospital the other day cause I wanted to wear an X-Metal. Stay away not worth it. Save them for @pjd1234
