I had/sold JC000942 (matching box) not long ago... I have seen 1xx and 2xx so I think its safe to say there were at least 1000 'Vette's - The Corvette would not be as rare as a [Juliet or X Squared] 24K

How many GSR2's were made?

Oakley randomly placed the boxes for these with the pairs so most of them do not match...

...just kidding, of course - but wouldn't that be cool? A limited run of *something [metal]* with intentionally mis-matched boxes so real collectors would have to find the matching box!

VW did this with the Golf Harlequin sort of. The goal was not to reunite the components and make the car whole again however. Thanks for posting that pic below Carrera!

FWIW I have JC001137 (Can't bring myself to call them Corvettes) and I believe the numbers on the GSR2 was between 300 and 500.

Just brings to mind people who have replaced a panel from the scrapyard and are too cheap to get it painted to match...

My JC is 832 (matching box), much higher than we've seen for a JBR.

Did these ever actually make it to retail? Or did they all go through kerb sales, where they just matched with the nearest box to hand? It is odd that so few match - we're used to boxes being lost over time, but wholesale mismatching is odd.

RvF noted that these were listed as coming to UK retail, but never made it officially - are they ever on US price lists?

no idea. but likely they were liquidated through vaults, like most things...

SWININC had about 10 pair of these, it seems like they were pulled but not pushed out through normal channels. That opinion is based only on the sheer number of these that I had seen SWINIC push out over the last couple years.

yeah hes had quite a few. i followed maybe 15 pairs over the past 3 years from swininc. seems to be all dried up now though

Just for your records, mine are JBR000319 with box marked up as 323 (pretty close to matching I guess)

Boxed JBR on US eBay right now, after a while not seeing any. The significant numbers of the serial aren't shown though.
