Oakley (Line Miner/Fall Line XR) goggles

Ahh sales samples are an interesting breed, not a rep myself but from my time collecting it seems they’re not always 100% like the production pairs.

I had bought a flight deck L a while back when they first came out from a ski shop employee really cheap because it was a sales sample and they said it was different I didn’t understand till I tried shopping for a replacement lens that fit a few years later. The lens tab slots on the frame didn’t line up with lens tabs location of the production model replacements.

I have a crowbar that is missing the fleece lining on the face foam because it was intended as a sample pair rather than be used on mountain. Otherwise it’s identical to a production model.

Have you tried seeing if a XM fall line lens would fit the frame?
I’m currently studying abroad so I have no access to my goggles (these were all photos from my parents) but it might? Your guess is as good as mine. The frame on fall lines is easy to manipulate that I bet you COULD fit one in if it didn’t natural but I’ll prob only wear them once or twice. I have to many pairs at this point to even wear for everyday of the month so I’ll either resell or rep them and wear them till there beat.

if it’s the same width/height and you had to have it work you could use a xacto to mod the frame to make it fit… but like you at that point in my life I had more goggles than days in a month so I just left those sales sample FD’s in the lodge for someone else to use.

I’ve since down sized my goggles to 3 prizm tech models, plus a bunch of crowbar and splices and couple canopy’s which I have too much nostalgia tied up in to them to sell 😎 if you got any of those you’re going to rehome when your back home let me know.

Unfortunately i dont, not all into the old school gear (ik very off brand for someone liking oakley) but i have wayyy to many line miners, fall lines, just got a few line miner pros, and then some rando stuff I’ll eventually give away to some friends or something

Well, you might be able to help me out in a different way, I can’t find a store nearby me that has the new line minor pro model as I’m trying to figure out if the face frame is the same size height and width on the pro as it was on the previous non-pro version.

As from the photos, it looks like they just extended the lens with and height to mimic fall line. but I tried calling customer service and chatting with them and they told me they don’t have the measurements on hand besides to tell me that the strap sizes are the same

I’m mostly interested because I have a coupon that would cover the full cost of the pro model, but I can’t apply to my online order if I order one of each size as it exceeds the $300 off. The point of ordering too as I would then return one that doesn’t fit.

I used to have the airbrake which I loved because of how easy it was to swap lenses , then I got flight deck large that I liked quite a bit but I couldn’t get a replacement because it was a sale sample, then I got Airbrakes XL but I didn’t like the fit of that one plus overall they felt really heavy and swapping the lenses didn’t seem as easy as the smaller version.

Basically, I’m trying to find a model that fits comparable to the flight deck large but has the lens swap ability of the original airbrake and ideally not as heavy as the XL version

Yea 99% of the time customer service doesn’t know that info, and to be completely honest after checking the Employee info on it they don’t even give us that info for a while. But I just texted a few buddies and they kinda gave a 70/30 answer, it seems to be that it fits (around the face and tightness wise) like a LM but 2 of them said it has the weight of a FL. So it seems to be a mixed bag unfortunately, and I haven’t tried it outdoors yet (being abroad) and any of my friends haven’t taken a hard enough fall to test this but I’m not 100% on the level of mag/clip that the lens has. (Prob shouldn’t be saying that because I work for them but it happened with the Mod 7 all the time with people coming in with broken clips on falls. So if I were you I would give it a season (given the fact you most likely have Plenty of goggles) and just let the world test them. Only reason I have them is because of the discount and accessibility to them.

Sorry didn’t see the next comment, that will be the hard part honestly, the weight to lens ratio really comes down to it. I’ll tell you right now don’t go for fall lines. And flight decks are a tried and true pair of goggles, easily our most popular because of the lens ratio, easy swap, and it’s light for a full lens.

Yeah I have a XM FD that I used quite a bit, but gave me to my sister. I think I prefer the spherical lens over the flatter cylindrical one the FL and LM have…

But I saw that the Pro’s come with a spare lens… which I wish the FD offered but if it’s a best seller as is I don’t see why they’d change the offering of it ha.

Have you tried out the prizm iced that now replaces that of HI pink?

Nope, and I probably won’t buy it (may try it on) my eyes just react better to rose lenses. I have a feeling it would be just a lighter saph.
(also check oakley.com right now they are running Black Friday stuff idk why but a BUNCH of goggle color ways are available and even some old school stuff)

In the video I saw of them, they look like a if they took a prizm golf lens and gave it a sapphire mirror.

They say same size but didn't give a side by side comparison of em hence why I asked about fit
