Mars are just sitting on ebay at these prices now. Why no pictures of what penny's go for on ebay? I can always take the dwp lenses out and put the ice back in them. Are you guys factoring in those on your estimates?

Doesn't maatter if they are sitting, those are the prices. There is no way anyone in their right mind would swap a Mars Crater for a Penny. Penny are everywhere, try finding a Mars Crater for $450.

They hardly come up. That is why they ask so much but, some of the prices for Crater are ridiculous. But, it is the rarity that pushed the prices up just like copper penny etc.

Within the last year I have bought two Pennys in great shape, with good lenses, and good rubber. Both were plasma if memory serves. I paid about 425.00 each for em from known and trusted OF members. No boxes or coins but both came with a soft vault if memory serves. Not being a box/coin guy I can’t speak to how much extra value that adds. I have not seen many Pennys pop here lately and I do look every day…cause “any” X-Metal deal, especially beaters gets my attention.

MARS I “can” speak to with some assurance…it is my current favorite Oakley and I am always on the hunt for just “One More” to add to my collection. I was dead lucky the last two years…not really luck just solid O-Teammates taking care of me. @Lopaka KaMars at the top of that list MARS-wise. But I have bought MARS from multiple other trusted OF members. Never from eBay. I have four in hand and one showing up (hopefully) today. Lowest I paid for a MARS Crater/Jordan was 675.00. Trust me…those days are gone unless it’s a special circumstance or maybe just luck. Variables.

I still maintain 750.00-1000.00 is accurate for a good shape Crater or beater Jordan. MARs Standards used to be less but I just paid 750.00 for a Standard. But it had a @Bonz-1 custom paint job and Hammerstems. Variables.

I’ll be happy to be proved wrong! I’ll ALWAYS listen to a MARS offer….or an X-Metal beater offer.

Penny 550 + 125 for dwp lenses = 675
Mars 700.
Am I getting this sh*t over 25 dollars? Sure I'll add 25 bucks. are we splitting hairs over 25 bucks? I never even asked for the mars to be perfect like these!

Glad it helped…and I don’t disagree with your math. Box and coin and all the Penny probably is accurate at around 550.00ish…Bear in mind I’m no Penny or price expert.

Separate the DWPs from the equation it just complicates things…except as an “add on” to a trade. Price is probably not far off on those either. I’m actively searching out DWPs for a MARS and a few other frames. But you gotta have someone with a MARS looking for a Penny “and” DWPs if you put it as a mandatory part of this trade.

Now to the real hurdle…it’s not price equivalence you are working against its supply and demand. 700.00 is low ball at the moment for a Crater in good shape if you can find one. “Maybe” for a beater…and maybe for a MARS Standard.

I just got a beater Crater yesterday from a friend and trusted O-Teammate in a trade deal…and I heard the Velcro tear when it left his hands from a few thousand miles away…and I appreciated getting it!

That’s the bottom line…MARS are currently few and far between. Folks that have em don’t want to part with em…family health tragedy or some other I need money now issue aside…folks just ain’t letting go. Not counting on that back alley luck deal when someone does not know what they have kinda thing or a good friend doing you a solid.

I’ve been back in the Oakley game for going on three years or so now…and been searching for MARS since day one. Trust me…that is the real challenge you face…

IMO you’re about $150 over valued in your estimate of a plasma penny with DWP. Even complete box set Penny’s (non XM and non copper of course) aren’t quite going for $650 ish)

Im pretty confident no one is trading a mars for your penny with how in demand and rare Mars shows up in the marketplace. And I’m just echoing everyone’s sentiment on this thread
