IMO you’re about $150 over valued in your estimate of a plasma penny with DWP. Even complete box set Penny’s (non XM and non copper of course) aren’t quite going for $650 ish)

Im pretty confident no one is trading a mars for your penny with how in demand and rare Mars shows up in the marketplace. And I’m just echoing everyone’s sentiment on this thread

From a UK prospective I watched a Penny Ice (boxed) Auction end today. I was hoping to snare it and as the seller hadn’t titled the listing very well I thought it might have “flown under the radar. It was at £320 with 10 seconds left. I max bid but straight away was outbid. It went for £510 (that’s about $640 right?)

I don’t know if it was serial matching but the nose bridge I was advised was tight.

I have this piece so if it had been a Ti/VR I’d have paid that figure for it tbf.

Mars wise the cheapest normal Mars I’ve seen from a UK seller recently was £975 that was box supplied, Serial not matching.

So unless we’re talking about Penny XM, Ti02 or Copper I think that gap is a bit more than hoped for.

Yes im sure of the value even penny are hard to come by these days.
Pennies i bought last year ranged from 500-600 and those are without boxes, some without lenses, i am just being honest here.

The best you can get without adding that much is a regular mars, but the craters are well sorted out you can’t get those for below 800 on this site.

Glad it helped…and I don’t disagree with your math. Box and coin and all the Penny probably is accurate at around 550.00ish…Bear in mind I’m no Penny or price expert.

Separate the DWPs from the equation it just complicates things…except as an “add on” to a trade. Price is probably not far off on those either. I’m actively searching out DWPs for a MARS and a few other frames. But you gotta have someone with a MARS looking for a Penny “and” DWPs if you put it as a mandatory part of this trade.

Now to the real hurdle…it’s not price equivalence you are working against its supply and demand. 700.00 is low ball at the moment for a Crater in good shape if you can find one. “Maybe” for a beater…and maybe for a MARS Standard.

I just got a beater Crater yesterday from a friend and trusted O-Teammate in a trade deal…and I heard the Velcro tear when it left his hands from a few thousand miles away…and I appreciated getting it!

That’s the bottom line…MARS are currently few and far between. Folks that have em don’t want to part with em…family health tragedy or some other I need money now issue aside…folks just ain’t letting go. Not counting on that back alley luck deal when someone does not know what they have kinda thing or a good friend doing you a solid.

I’ve been back in the Oakley game for going on three years or so now…and been searching for MARS since day one. Trust me…that is the real challenge you face…

All I said I'm trying to get mars or craters. I really couldn't care less if they are craters. Not trying to rip off anyone trying to make it fair for whoever is interested. That's all

Fair enough O-Teammate. Mandatory was my word choice…not a quote.

I did not take it you were wanting to rip anyone off…just sounded to me like you had been away a bit and were not up in current pricing…and more importantly the sad rarity of MARS these days.

If you are open to any MARS then your chances have increased somewhat. They are all still scarce but a Standard MARS is more likely to be closer to your Penny.

Helps to specify you are willing to add some cash and or another frame to the deal.

It’s my opinion that more MARS deals are made offline than in threads too…around here folks know what they got for the most part…darn em

Super nice and were my very first pair of Oakley’s . They cracked and I got a polished black M frame as a replacement. I was gutted .

Yeah about the same experience. Tried changing arms to razor blade triggers and broke the hinge off. There possibly could of been a fire at the school I know nothing about
