So, I’m looking to recreate the early red FMJ finish on o matter frames!

My little brother who passedaway back in 2011 of colon cancer had a favorite pair of prescription Oakley. They were red FMJ with black iridium lenses and black icons. My mother still has them in a curio cabinet and I have the opposing color way in the same model. His were XX twenty red frame and mine were XX twenty black frame with Ruby lenses and red icons. The closest frame shape currently in production (imho) is the new valves. So I am preparing to assemble a few pairs of custom red FMJ valves for my youngest brother and nephew, my dead brother’s son that have that same look. I will update with progress as I get supplies in!

Scanned the O-Review on em and found a few on eekBay (at X-Metal pricing! ). Not familiar with the XX (20?). It was a Frogskin family member?

Now…what I really like is this red color! The pics I found are a beautiful deep red but almost have a satin look?

So…to my question…what brand and color paint are you planning on? Inquiring minds want to know!

So I ordered a couple cans, one is duplicolor transparent red that’s advertised as having an anodized look when applied to chrome plastic and metal and the other is another automotive paint that’s chrome. Both are made to be applied directly to plastic and have flex and adhesion needed for this project.

So far I’ve only received supplies and haven’t really started on this project besides planning. I have however completed a couple pair of turbines with rose gold and pink lenses that I color matched the icons.
