The Oakley Mad Scientist Era

When did this era start and end? Or is the Oakley entire 40years of sunglasses considered 'Mad Science'? I guess Factory Pilot Eyeshades was very different, but for me it was the X Metal line when the design language started taking centre stage in the movies. I guess this is when I first started getting into Oakley's and first drew me into the brand (though thinking back my BMX had Oakley Grips!). Of the O matter frames, Splice, Minute 1.0, 2.0 and XX (2000) still do it for me. And the original Whisker wires. Unfortunates I haven't found a new release in the last 15 year that work me. Everything seem too mainstream in recent times or just too damn large.

IMO Ended on June 21, 2007 even though some styles continued to be produced.

I think Luxottica Oakley came out with interesting designs some designs like Manman/Badman but shouldn’t tried to pass them off as X Metal.
