In the market for a case and just wondering on the quality of older vs. newer style cases. There is a 1.0 that is close by I really like, but the newer cases seem to have the newer bells and whistles. The older cases seem to be sturdier built based on observation alone, but I can't tell since I've only seen them in pictures. Can someone chime in? Are the older cases still relevant for newer style collections?

When you say 1.0, what case are you talking about? The stretch-line case. Or the aluminum tower?

Goes like this to name a few
1.0 stretchline
2.0 aluminum tower, single/double/triple
3.0 black tower, single/double
3.5 spine case
4.0 metal single and double

My opinion, all cases work for new or old. Just depends on what case you like and meets your needs

I much prefer the older ones to newer ones, but depends what’s in your collection.
If you have lots of plastics a newer one will suit more. If you have more xmetals go for a 2.0 aluminium one. Or even better if you can find one get a stretchline 1.0 like this..

The stretchline series are definitely the badassed looking out of all of them! But I can tell you the 4.0 series are not lightweight by any means. The led lighting is second to none! The way they light up every corner of the case is stunning! But one of the best features on them are the locking wheels. They glide the case around like its light as a feather, and when you lock them they are solidly in place.

The aluminum towers were the first true line-wide metal towers. The Stretchlines rolled steel cases came in 2004 as part of the Stretchline pieces. It didn’t fit into any numbering system that eventually was introduced as part of the 3.0 and 3.1s. I suppose retroactively the Stretchline cases can been seen as 1.5. Then came the Premium towers, which you call the Spine. They can be retroactively called the 2.0 since the next cases got the numbering starting with 3.0 and 3.1.

Those are also great cabinets I agree! The lighting is the best out of all of them 😎
