Watches Other Than Oakley

Longines Spirit Zulu Time 39mm

Like I'm guessing with most people, I don't really need a GMT, but this has been my favorite execution of a GMT. This was a more quintessential bucket list pickup to me, wear here and there. The early experience has made a bigger impression on me. Unlike what I imagined, it's not too far off of what wearing a simpler field watch was like for me.

Excellent watch, one of the few Chronometers in Longines' current lineup.

Next stop is busy Bangkok. Finally got to ditch the sweater and jacket. My mission here aside from trying all the mouthwatering street food was to make it to the WISE showroom in ICONSIAM Mall and purchase one personally. I came across this Thai Microbrand in Austin during the Intersect watch fair. The founders were really cool and they made some well spec'd pieces. All watches featured on the fair was for demo only and could not be sold. Figured this is a perfect opportunity for me to pick on up to remember our Thailand trip this year.

Ended bringing home the Damascus case AD7 and purchased a 904L accessory bracelet since I like the spring hinged micro adjust clasp.

Just love the overall finish and attention to detail from this brand.

Maximized our 5 hour layover in Singapore by sneaking out of the airport and hitting another local microbrand AD for another souvenir.

First heard about Vario on a Time + Tide article. Saw their demo units at Minutes + Hours watch show in Austin and now, was finally able to add the Single Hand Navi to the collection.

Glide lock is a nice touch..

Squale 1521 Sea Shepherd edition

Similar to my Longines and Seiko pick-ups, kinda exploring other brands' history and reading into their merits of function-driven design. Also didn't have an Italian(-ish) watch yet.

Swapped the strap with my temporary Nato because the original is pretty long for me. I am a fan of how much the lugs turn down

Awesome pickup! Squale has been in my peripheral for quite some time now...

Grand Seiko SBGR317

When I was scratching the surface of entering the space of timepieces a few years ago, one piece of advice I was given was to get a relatively basic pre-owned Grand Seiko like this. Past generation, not a higher end model in the brand, no Spring Drive, no intricacies with the dial or upfront draws, no retailer experience in buying brand new. I can make sense of what goes into that, but I don't know how that would've affected my other acquisitions, had I started with something like this watch first.
