🦘Which Sellers Do You Trust? Here's Cacatman's Top 29 People I think I can trust to buy from! 😂

Sorry but that's contradictory. Either it's a seller list or it's a vouched for (popularity) list. You need to define your parameters and stick to them, please.

I still find this a bit presumptuous. One of those "paved with good intentions" things.
Understood.

If someone puts their name to "vouch" for someone, it may be a popularity contest to them, but in the end, it's their name on the line. To me, it's not a popularity contest. That's why I only include people there who I have objective evidence (from MY point of view) who I consider are trustworthy excellent (not just good) sellers.

I also wished to acknowledge that there are OTHER sellers that other people trust. But BECAUSE I myself don't have dealings with a lot of those particular people, I decided to include a secondary list which includes those names (not being omnipresent or omniscient and all).

It was a compromise. I have to balance accomodating other people who also have knowledge to add, with my own value system (which may or may not be as stringent as theirs (or vice versa)).

If you still disagree, I'm sorry. All I can do is accept your point of view but I'm not changing this thread because I don't see the inconsistency. I hope you can reciprocate the intention.

There’s at least 1 member in your 28 I’d never send $1000. Not that I think I wouldn’t get the item, but because the item would probably be worth half that. :D
You should start a list of sellers whose prices and/or item descriptions are always off...
You made a mistake. I'm not on that list and I generally list my stuff pretty high (except for the rubbers and earsocks that are going to be listed soon....).

Seriously though, I know one or two people you may be referring to. @kronin323 may disagree, but I tried to keep the scope just to trustworthiness re: "selling" ie. regardless of character in other areas (which is difficult to judge anyway) or pricing.

I don't think that just because you sell something expensive, you can't be "trusted" or just because you sell something cheap, you can be "trusted". Both of those things are independent.

It's for individuals themselves to decide how much (or how little) they want to pay for something. I'm not here to make a judgement call on that.

I find it ironic that people here say an "X-metal sold by __________" isn't worth the amount he is selling it for when 99.9999998% of the world is saying the same thing about allegedly cheap 20 yo Juliets we are all snapping up!!!!

But accurate descriptions go hand in hand with trustworthiness.

I know who Campbell is talking about and I've personally had a bad experience with this sellers description

Sorry. I misread what you meant. I thought you were just referring to pricing. Not inaccurate descriptions. My apologies. I'll PM you.

Eh no I don't have a soapbox here, just an opinion. It's your thread. I know your heart is in the right place but sometimes things can do more harm than good, as we've discussed with other topics.

Cheerio... :hi:

Sorry. I made this OP longer because it was necessary to define the terms a bit better.

The scope is just about the financial trustworthiness only. I didn't really factor in the issue about description trustworthiness (good point raised by @lacampbell2005). To do so is extremely subjective. Also it would be unusual for a seller to describe their items accurately 100% of the time. I admit, that if they do "under-describe" scratches (for example) regularly, then this would give cause for consideration to be off this list (and I'd have to consider things case by case). If a seller made a mistake in their description, and acknowledged that mistake when sufficient proof was forwarded and according to community expectations, and then made amends as much as was reasonable (ie. did partial/total/in kind refunds or came to a mutual agreement and apologised etc) then I wouldn't see a reason to preclude them from this list. We all make mistakes from time to time. Some of the best sellers here have done that, which is why (the best ones (e.g. @X-Metal Beast) often offer a "money back guarantee" (once the item has been returned, of course)).
