Glasses other than oakley?

I have a Plasma Purple from Vonxyz that is Amber in tint. I used that for low-light (cloudy) driving until I found the fisherman's YELLOW Polarized.

I had been looking for low-light POLARIZED lens & all the low-light formulas I encountered were un-polarized, until I realized fishing on the water required Polarized lenses, otherwise you cannot see below the water.

The local fly fishing shop is where the Bajío dealer is & these are the proprietor's budget offering.
I was figuratively blown away when I put them on & saw how it makes everything brighter & by a lot.

They will be indispensable to me now in my automobile.
I used them just now to change the wiper-blades, because the glare was making it so I could not see what I was doing.

Then I used the Polarized lens to see the smears on my windscreen to clean up.
That is a weekly chore, where I normally end up having to clean it again & again, & AGAIN, because I could not see all the smears with my naked eyes, unless the weather was really really damp.

Remember when I showed the dimples in the lens of some off my glasses?
when you look at the back of a polarized lens with a polarized lens, you can see the stress markers in the polarization layer

Well, I recently discovered the reason why some showed no marks is because their Poly is 200 μm thicker than the others.

My research was for the reason of making sure a replacement lens would fit into the frame of a M.J. Ho'Okipa.
If you look closely at how it is screwed in there, a variance in thickness could be problematic.

addendum:
200 μm = 0.2 millimeters

I have been trying to limit my prospective acquisition demographic by having rules:

Eight Base-Curve or higher, Six at least (if I just want to try a lens or brand)

Some form of Spectral-Filtering, preferably notching (570 - 580 nanometer wavelengths)
this went right out the window with some cheap replacement lenses

no full-rims, because I have a serious problem with the rims riding on my cheeks
exception goes to Costa Tuna Alley, which I tried in-store, or any I can try on in-store

also, half-rims are really really easy to change the lens in, & are much-much more tolerant of the shape, sometimes even being cross-compatible

must be Polarized, but I broke this rule a couple of times for low-light lens
This makes shopping at sporting goods stores problematic, as almost all their Oakley are not

Fishing glasses are almost always polarized, because otherwise you cannot see below the surface of the water.

I am now calling it quits with Smith & Spy, both of which promise the world with a cherry on top, but in my experience cannot deliver on it.

Maui Jim, I am starting to feel like it is a lot of Hype.
Where is this maximum contrast in their Rose lens? I simply do not see it, but it is exalted as such

I love the Ho'Okipa design, so lightweight & fits under a hat or helmet well, but they will not put a SuperThin Glass on it for obvious reasons.

The Maui-Brilliant is even lighter than Maui-Pure & more Clarity, but at the lack of Saturation.

Here is a little caveat you might want to know, all their Readers have Maui-Brilliant lens & pre-owned sell for a fraction of the new price in online markets.

Also, keep track of any obvious dealers in the pre-owned markets, because they will add Demo/Floor models cheap & they are are still in like-new condition with all the case-candy.

Hell, to be honest it is not much different to buying in a local sporting-goods store, because when I do they take the demo off the wall, put it into the only box for it & sell it to me at the NEW price!

I even asked the floor salesman last time, can I not get a New in Box one?
Nope, this is all they have.

I feel like I am coming to the end of my Sunglass Science journey for the moment. I have exhausted all the local seller resources & bought all the decent replacement lenses.

One thing that is sort of new to me is the idea that I am conflating Color Resolution, Contrast, & Saturation.

but i am failing to find a decent resource to train my eye in the subtle differences

For Instance, the Spy+ Logan I got were supposed to be the Maximum Contrast lens for their Happy Boost line, but I just went Meh! when I got them.

I would probably feel the same about Wiley-X Captivate, so I have just put an Apex lens into my WX-Valor.
I do enjoy the Wiley-X half-rims, they are basically safety glasses, or Ballistic glasses.

What led you to replace the lens in a Maui Jim?
I understand it is possible to get new lens from M.J. for free, but you need to mail it to them & they charge $100 for 'maintenance', because they will also replace nose-pads & of course ship them back to you.

I am due to receive two M.J. Ho'okipa today: the darkest-looking Rose lens I could find, from a dealer, which was a demo model

the other: Maui Sunrise

I was quite close to buying a set of Rx frames & putting an aftermarket lens, but it turns out the models with the 9 as the first number are different to the others & will not fit the same lens.

Thanks to your post however, I just realized this morning that Sunglass Fix does make lenses for those.

two ways to get cheap sunnies: Readers & Rx frames

I am warming up to the HCL Bronze Ho'okipa readers. At first it was weird when driving, because I would accidentally look through the reader portion when checking my blind-spots, but all I needed to do was lower my head a little.

I intend on putting those on a leash & put them on before I go shopping, so I can read labels & look really cool doing it.

The Kaenon, Holy Smokes those are great glasses, as good as the Maui Jim World Cup.
Only a touch of distortion in the peripherals, again for checking my blind-spots.

addendum:

Sunglass Fix use Polyamide (Nylon) which is quite good. It should be more popular.

I changed their lense in the Maui Jim because they came (many moons ago) with the Super Thin Glass Maui Dark Grey (or whatever their Grey lens is called.

Fantastic lens.....amazing clarity....but....minimal colour shift (which I really enjoy) and although light for a glass lens, if I wore them in the car for extended periods of time....the pads where marking my nose because of the weight.
I also wanted to try SunglassFix and the Castles where the prime candidate.

I have a perfectly good set of Maui Glass lenses sitting in drawer as a spare, if I need them.

I have recently come to learn I am a Saturation Junkie & was mistaking the lack of Saturation for a lack of Contrast-boost.

Unfortunately for us, the maximum Saturation happens with Maui Jim in their SuperThin Glass.
I also am not that fond of having glass on my face while driving.

Those Nylon lens are likely better than M.J.'s own Maui-Pure.
