Yeah it’s Apple attempts to keep all notifications and “apps” within their control.

So they only allow it with apps, but not what’s considered web apps / service workers.

Essentially the world is moving away from needing a stand-alone app for websites and instead to embedding that functionality to web pages which are mobile friendly and responsive.

In the android browser, one can allow the site to send push notifications. Does Safari not allow this?

Not on an iPhone. I still receive the email, but that’s archaic.
