Trying to source Half X rubbers

No, it ended up being a pair of socks for the X square which did not work.

I’m having the rubber for my half x 3D scanned at a local university - nose pads, lens orbital washers, and temple pads - then hope to 3d print on a rubber printer that will match the unobtanium rubber Durometer specifications of oakley product.

Stay tuned if this works … Hope I’m about 2 weeks out on this effort.
Damn that’s wild I’d be interested in the 3D models if you’re willing to share! :)

You’ve got my attention now…my experience in 3D Scanning is about 4/5 years old which is like Jurassic on the tech scale.

I’d “really” like someone to scan a Juliet or MARS nose bridge for me 👽👍

Yes, the 3D scanners have gotten much better.

I don’t have one - at the mercy of a tech at a local university .

Once we get the rubbers figured out,
I plan to scan the metal parts so these can be available.

Depends on how much time I can get to make this all happen.

But the tech is there to do it.

Once we have the 3D models - sending to a metal powder printer and some secondary processing like sandblast and cerakote should make viable alternative product.

I have multiple scanners…again from more than a few years back. None of them could really come close for a small and precise part like any of these. I always found more luck at the end of the day with photogrammetry than any scanner. Course none of mine were more expensive than a few hundred dollars. I have one that works with an iPad and one that was a free standing scanner. Have not touched em in years…😏

It is a shame some of these scammers and knock off organizations don’t get a clue…I’d not pay 35.00 for a fake Juliet but I’d happily pay 35.00 for a precision made replacement Juliet nose bridge…alone. Just like I pay Linegear for multiple types of replacement parts that Oakley no longer makes or sells.

If what I’ve heard a couple times are on here is true…allegedly the X-Metal patents have lapsed…but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Yes, I’ve talked to them all - their is no interest.
Its one of those parts that is expensive to produce, because it requires injection molding for a non-flat shape. The mold alone is usually $2000-$5000 plus ordering a minimum qty for the parts, you're looking at $4000-$7000 outlay for a single part that won't sell often. It would probably take a lifetime to recoup the costs.
