Hi there,
I am a big Oakley fan boy for almost 25 years, now, and need your help.
I am looking for a new pair of sunglasses for driving.

Polarized:
To me, this is an absolute must for driving.
In particular on sunny days, where the car’s dash is reflected in the windscreen or on roads with high glare (sunshine after rain).

VLT:
It may not be too dark, because it should be as versatile as possible. I also want to wear it in overcast and cloudy conditions.

Color/Tint:
Ideally, it should be made for road/traffice use. PRIZM roads would be optimal, but unfortunately it is not polarized.

Frame style:
It should not look neither „too aggressive“ (e.g. Racing Jacket) nor too sporty (e.g. Radar), more everyday like. However, it should have at least a small bend, so that it also covers the eyes for light coming from the side.
It should fit small-to-medium heads.
E. G. Oakley Gibston would be ideal.

Until today, I am wearing a 10 year old Oakley Jawbone/Racing Jacket, with OO Red Iridium Polarized Lens.
The VLT is good (lets through enough light), however lens color/tint is not optimal for driving. Comparing it to PRIZM roads, the later increases contrast for driving terrain much better (however not polarized)
In addition, I do not like the „aggressive“ look of the Jawbone frame, anymore.

I am super exited to hear your thoughts on this one.

prizm shallow water or prizm tungsten polarized would probably fit your needs. As far as a frame, Holbrook, sylas, Gibson would all be pretty good. I’d just try some on (or order a few and keep the one you like).

The issue with polarized lens is that these comes with very low VLT, i haven't seen any polarized lens below 17% vlt (Prizm Rubi P). You will get few options in more vlt but with out Polarized. In non polarized category, I like Prizm Dark Golf, Prizm Golf, Prizm Road, Prizm Trail Torch etc. Among the polarized Deep water and Tungsten are my fav, but as i mentioned above, these come below 15%vlt that might be very darky for driving conditions. I won't say here, but you may try MJ HT lens that comes with almost 25% vlt and polarized.

Thanks for your replies. Prizm Tungsten Polarized might be an option, but I am uncertain about how the bronze base performs in roads environment?
What do you think of Prizm Ruby Polarized (although also bronze based)?
What is MJ HT?

Prizm ruby, tungsten, and shallow water all look really similar to look through. Comes down to your personal preference on the mirror color.

Impossible to have both........ you need to buy more than one pair.

That would be a bad idea while driving on a cloudy day.
I will say they are too dark for that.

Walking or biking outside, sure........ but inside a car? No.....

Prizm road is the darkest i would go.
And they don't come in polarized.

So as i said..... you need several Oak's to pick and chose from.

I really think this is something that you need to go and try in-store.
While everyone's opinions are great and it's one thing to read things on paper, everyone's eyes react differently to lenses.
For sunny days, I would avoid any bronze based lenses, so scratch out Prizm Tungsten or Prizm Shallow Water Polarized, it may be too overwhelming in boosting the contrast.
I would second the Prizm Daily or even Prizm Deep Water Polarized. Reason being is the rose-based lens would be good for both sunny and lower light conditions, as well as them being polarized.
