WANTED: The perfect perfect all-conditions polarized sunglasses for driving (incl. cloudy weather)

If you take into account, that the human eye can adust the white balance and get used to the color tint, it looks as follows:

picture 5: White balance corrected, brightness fixed
picture 6: white balance corrected, brightness adjusted

Again interesting to see, how good PRIZM Road separates the colors and, surprisingly, how strong it boosts orange.

Last but not least, I desaturated pictures 4 and 6, to see which colors are let through by each lens

I found two great options! :)

First, I am happy with the Holbrook frame. That fits me very well, and does not look to sportive / agressive.

Lens colors:
PRIZM Daily Polarized
VLT 14%
Good light transmission, also for overcast conditions. Good contrast in road environment.
However, in cloudy conditions, the rose based color is for me a little bit too cold.

Therefore, my second choice is:

PRIZM Shallow Water Polarized
VLT 15%
the warm base color cheers up in cloudy conditions. Light transmisson is perfect.
It does not push contrast of street details (because it is the oposite of the rose based PRIZM road color), but for highway driving this is not as important as for cycling. More importantly, it pushes the colors red and yellow, which is ideal to highlight braking and turn lights.
Also in foggy situations, it brightens up braking lights, which helps to increase safety.

Great, prizm shallow water was the first lens I recommended. Glad it worked out. Prizm tungsten polarized is very similar too. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for this great idea!
Yes, I tried Prizm Tungsten Iridium as well (however, not side by side).
My feeling was that the bronze color was too intense, and that was slightly darker than shallow water.

Thanks for your replies. Prizm Tungsten Polarized might be an option, but I am uncertain about how the bronze base performs in roads environment?
What do you think of Prizm Ruby Polarized (although also bronze based)?
What is MJ HT?
I'd always preferred bronze for driving. I know the shallow water states it's rose base but I feel they're more of a on the brown side than rose side when looking through them compared to other rose base lenses like Deep water. However they're not nearly as dark as 24k or Tungsten. Thus like other members mentioned you might consider picking up a few different models or try them in-store to decide which tint you find most pleasing to your eyes.

I'd go with Prizm Daily Polarized if you can still find something with that lens

Those are underrated lens imo, they're a great lens you can wear till the sun sets and not even notice till its actually night out that you're still wearing them.
Thank you very much for the good discussion.
I am absolutely aware of that the perfect lens for all conditions between cloudy to extremely bright does not exist.
Important to me is, that the lens increases safety, by tackling the most „dangerous“ situations. To me, these are in particular extremly reflecting roads (sunshine after rain), and also wet/foggy situations in combination with some sun. In both situations the polarized is helping a lot.
And in extremly bright light, even the brightest lens still improves the situation, because it cuts at least some light.
Prizm Road polarized would be the absolute perfect driving lens to me, with a VLT fo 25%.

Until today, „OO Red Iridium Polarized“ is doing the job for me. VLT is OK for me - However, I don‘t know the exakt VLT. Do you know?
What I do not like about the OO Red Iridium Polarized is the color base. It does not really increase the contrasts. If I switch to the pink based Prizm Roads, colors and contrast really pop, and I can see the structure of the road way better. OO Red Pol unfortunately does not have this high contrast.
I'd go with prizm daily for a do-it all pair. I can't find a list on the O site of the all the vlt's of lenses in one chart like there once was, but here's the tints I prefer going from darkest to lightest. I haven't found a prizm replacement for the OO Red Polar lenses from before, but I typically take prizm daily with me when I travel as it's the most versatile pair in the fleet.

OO Red Iridium Polarized is a 18% VLT lens with a G40 base meant for increasing contrast and medium light levels
I adore the older gen G and VR based tints that prizm can't quite replicate, they're a bit more subtle with the contrast enhancing aspect which is nice and makes for a better lower vlt polarized option in some cases.

With Prizm its like someone turned the hue/saturation setting on the view all the way up in some cases.
