Which Oakley Frame Works Well with Motorcycle Helmet?

AP Steve

Oakley Beginner
Any motorcycle riders out there have recommendations for frames that work with helmet wearing?

I'm currently debating between the Wire Tap 2.0 and the Whisker. I wear a pretty tight-fitting helmet and with some styles it's a struggle to push the arms between head and lining without catching. Favorite of mine at the moment is the Square Wire which work well but are getting old.

Holbrook
Canteen 1.0 theses seem to fit when I wear the tight full face helmet. The arms are a little flatter
I’ve tried the gascan they just seem to get hung up like the Jupiter.

Any of the X Metals work for me, but if you really want an Oakley made for motorcycle riding pick up a pair of Wind Jackets. They have a removable wind gasket, and you can change the lenses quickly when lighting conditions change.

For a full-face lid (and particularly since you mentioned that you wear a tight-fitting one), you'd want something with flat, thin temples for ease of wearing/taking off. The orbitals shouldn't be too tall, else they'll mess with the overall fit of the helmet too. Finally, its preferable to have a good wrap for better coverage so that the frame doesn't mess with your FoV. I am not knowledgeable regarding shield glasses like Sutros, but I reckon they are all better suited for cycling helmets and not full face lids.

That said, my personal favorites for use with a full-face lid are Drop Point, Carbon Shift, Plazma and EJ Redux, in that order. They wrap perfectly without messing with the helmet liners and once on, you'd forget they're there.

Fuel Cell, Lateralis, Neoforma, Massetter, Gibston and Cables (OO9129) are a few others that come to mind. The Suture Jacket feels like a strong contender as well.

Note to self: Turbines look like strong contenders, but nope, Turbines and full face lids don't go well together. The earsocks make it hard to put on and take off.

Oh and polarized lenses. Although I can't live without them while in a car, polarized lenses are a disaster if you ride visor-down as they mess with the polycarbonate visor, creating psychedelic patterns.

Or move to a state without helmet laws and let the wind through your hair! I seldom wear a helmet unless it's raining!

Unfortunately the UK has mandatory helmet laws, and my hair went south years ago!
It might sound redundant. But I always wear sunglasses under my helmet, even when I have my smoked or mirrored visor.

I usually wear a hijinx that ive had for years. Just polished Black with a grey lens. I only use Shark helmets, which tend to be very form fitting around the temples. The wide flat temples of the hijinx make it easy to put them on on a helmet without worring about breaking or bending anything, just push them on.

Id stay away from anything with earsocks. If you do have hair, it'll catch that and make it a pain to put on. If you using them under a helmet and they dont stay in place, id be questioning the fit of your helmet first.
