Hey guys, so I have been thinking about the X metal line and how incredible it was for its time, and also how sad that there isn't much of a market for metal frames at all today (slight exception for the DV titanium Kohei and Yusuke, but not as extensively metal or titanium as the cherished X metal line).
What do you think the perception/reception of replica X metals using real X metal parts to create negatives for casting new parts out of different alloys (Silver, Copper, Aluminum or something similar) would be? Would they be liked, enjoyed, admired or maybe seen as fake, fraudulent, or cheap imitations? There are a limited number of X metal frames and for new enthusiasts it can be a steep barrier to entry into the X metal world.
There are plenty of after market rubber, screws, lenses and other hardware catering to the franchise, but getting a hold of the real frames can be tricky and expensive.
I feel like this could be viewed as a cheap replica, or on the opposite extreme, as a luxury homage to the line (similar to what Hender Scheme has done with footwear).
Idk, just wanting some thoughts and ideas if possible, thank you
