Chrome Radars Frame Peeling Fix?

I picked up a pair of White Chrome Radars last week with very bad peeling paintwork.

Plan A was to strip them and send them to Dr Chop but having removed in the icons using hot water and removed the original paint with the correct nail varnish remover the frame is matte black.

Does anyone know if the official matte black Radar is just an unpainted frame?

I'm pretty sure the Matte Black Radars are painted as such - I don't believe it's simply an unpainted frame.

I forgot that I had a pair of matte black Jawbones and on inspection they look identical.

The texture of plastic is the same as well.
