There isnt a section for "lens discussion " so thoughtbit would fit best here.

I have been on the hunt for the best replacement lenses for older frames. After much research on the forum (as well as other forums and independent websites) I decided to try out the prizm deep water lenses before I pull the trigger and have some custom cut for the big boy xmetals.

These lenses, from what I can tell, are loved by just about everyone as are hailed as some of the best lenses that Oakley had made.

I was able to Find some clifdens for a steal (translucent blue with DWP lenses). I was heading out to the lake with family and these were slated to arrive just in time to test them out. Long story short, usps decided yo route the package from my delivery town to the other side of the country and then back again.

Finally got them out to the lake today and I have to tell you guys. I am NOT impressed with the performance of these lenses in the water. The only thing that saved then was the polarization. Past that, I am able to see MUCH deeper in the water with a set of rose tinted lenses (like prizm snow).

Looks like I'm going to try to find someone to custom cut some prizm snows for the xmetals.

The prizm on these lenses have a grayish base hue and although they do good at everyday colors, they just do NOT live up to the hype that I got around these parts, personally. ;)

Are we different?.jpg

There are Shallow water and Maritime too in the family, I have the Maritime which are 1% more light transmission I believe, than DWP, and supposed to be better for murky water,

That said DWP is a favourite lens of mine but in general use, rather than on the lake.

Maritime are Oakley SI lenses. Same rose tint. Look green/ purple

I knew maritime was out there. I'll have to try those next. Thanks for the heads up about the rose hue

You're gonna wear X-metals on the lake? That's heartbreak waiting to happen right there. 😉😎

Was thinking about you mentioning Prizm Snow. Not sure if a Prizm Snow Polarized is available. And polarization is the key to being able to cut the glare down. You should obviously try different lenses to see which ones you like the best.🤙

I think a LOT of us - myself included - love these lenses (DWP) not so much for actual deep water usage, but for everyday use.

Also, for the record, I'm pretty sure deep water polarized IS a rose base tint, like Prizm snow (not sure which "snow" lenses you're referring to, since Oakley makes like 4 or 5 different "snow" lens colors, but Snow Sapphire, Snow Black and Snow Jade are all rose base)

I realize there are a lot of "snows" 😆 right now I'm really loving the "Prism Snow Torch" lenses.

I did see that the DWP had a rose base, but they are not even close to tinting things rose. I didn't realize that maritime is SI only. Going to have to find some decent second hand ones lol

Just got my first pair of lenses for my jackets and yes they are indeed a rose base, however they are very gently rose as opposed to say a ruby lense. I tend to not like rose lenses and have stayed away from dwp but I love em. I use jade alot and ruby lenses on occasion when the sun's not blinding. I wanted a new look so I tried the dwp over sapphire and im glad I did. I think sapphire and jade will produce a very similar look. I haven't had them on the lake yet though but im noticing how the red base makes them seem much brighter than the 12% vlt lead me to believe but yet they still knock down sun and glare like a boss!! Im loving em in everyday right now
