Anodizing X-Metals by XMC optics

Damn I wish I never found this! So much beauty, so many finishes I want to try out! This is going to do bad things to me and my wallet, what oh what to do first, second, and beyond!
Yeah they definitely are not "gross" are they???? I saw in person the frames that you bought before they shipped to you I thought they looked great...

Should be in tomorrow, I'm giddy with excitement to see them in person. And yeah, far from 'gross'... My comment on that is its nice to share your opinion sometimes. In the same respect, I was taught that if you don't have anything nice to say to not say anything at all! Especially if it's someone's professional work that they clearly put a lot of care, effort, and time into. Sometimes you just need to be considerate of other people, plain and simple.

my gross comments was in refernce to the scratches that were already on the glasses.....

eventhough i don´t like the anodizing due to the frame peeking/bleeding through the anodizing, i wouldn´t necessarily call it gross.....

scratches are gross......

Really? I had no idea... haha

The scratches are inherent in the casting process, or occur from use. Call em what you want, but the veteran X metal collector will realize they are marks that add character to a frame that you wear regularly (and are inevitably unavoidable). Now a strict collector may abhor any sort of casting defect/scratching, but I don't think you fall into that category @Litos.

Now back to a more positive discussion, these are all beautiful works of art, I will take one of each, both etched and smooth please!!!! I will be posting my impressions of my two pairs tomorrow when I get them in. Full disclosure Litos, you may not want to read my review because I like a little 'blotchiness'. Heck, people paid $600 for 'blotchy' rust, and those weren't even X metals, so I can't be the only one!!!

uummm, the first part is very hard to believe...

Oakley is not going to sell $400-600 X-Metals with scratches and imperfections already all over the frame....

scratches are from use.....

I feel bad continuing this insanity, but...

I said "or from use", so I kind of already accepted that fact. But so you can feel like you won some kind of battle, yes I would agree in this case the scratching came from use. I was trying to make the point that Oakley did sell plenty of X metals with casting imperfections (my apologies, as I guess this was a big no-no to point out). No, not all over the frame, but I have a few with pitting, scratching, bumps, and craters (particularly visible in polished frames, frames with finishes tended to mask these imperfections to certain degrees).

In the end I am not sure what point you are trying to make except to be argumentative and overly critical. Who cares where the scratches came from (or that you think they are 'gross'), this topic is about the anodization services being offered. Can't we just get back to topic?

First gen pairs have imperfections from casting, bumps, lumps, pits, the lot. The process improved and the end results were more consistent, allowing for polished finishes.

i can accept that, but not scratches and gouges like what was highlighted in my post with the red circles....
Respectfully you've been spoiled by the later gen such like the polished fire and Infinite Hero Juliet that you got from me.
Earlier gens are rougher and have more "flaws" or "personality". I've got a basement full of them that bear this out.
