Best Cleaning Products??

I’m pretty close to the @Walter Langkowski method, except after rinsing with barely warm water:
- I wash my hands with dawn and rinse
- I put another drop of dawn in my wet palm and lather it up
- I lather the glasses completely, special attention to the lenses
- I rinse the glasses and my hands
- shake the water off, then blow the rest of the water off

I almost never wash my glasses in the field. I’ll use bottled water to rinse off dirt and dust if it’s really bad, but actually washing them is only with a sink and soap

Yeah I always wash my hands first and I too use room temp water to not accidentally shock the AR coatings and cause premature delam. Getting the squeaky clean sounds and feeling between your thumb and index finger while rinsing the dawn soap off at the same time is extremely satisfying 🤌🏻. It’s all about preparation and preferences I like to like pinch dry with a brand new high-quality MF cloth at the end because I’m afraid I’ll blow dusty air back onto the lenses or kick up any dust in the room but I do have a small electric keyboard cleaner/air blower by need to try that next time to get the initial soak and water in the small crevices off.

Kevin gets all his crevices too. Awkward

I wash them if they are really gunked up with sweat & fingerprints, otherwise it is a fog-up with some hot breath & a lens-cloth
If that fog/wipe does not do it, then I might break out the Chums alcohol-free spray.

Still no leads on HYDROPHOBIC solution beyond a friend’s secret stash?
dishwasher detergent will have a hydrophilic agent
not dishwashing liquid like we use at the sink, but the stuff for in the machine

soft wash cloth (the kind your supposed to be using in the shower) gross if you’re not
I use a loofah
loofah-rigno

A mild handsoap and rinse with water, soft clean cloth and no rubbing in circles.
One way wiping with unused surface on the cloth, overkill i know but a occupational hazard after working with showlaser optics.
