The Lava lens is in the Maui Brilliant material......would that be correct Alan?
Yes thats what it says on the Label, which I was surprised by. I am curious why the custom lenses seem to be in the Brilliant vs. the Ultra since they are listed as Ultra.

I suspect that they only make the HT, Maui Green, Maui Blue and Maui Gray in the Ultra material.

I was a little disappointed...... I was hoping to get that frame (it's fantastic looking) with the Ultra material lens.

I would say it's only a matter of time before the do the full colour range in "Maui Ultra"

Can't wait.....because, I'm really impressed with the Maui Green

I listened to Mr. Sunglass Science over the weekend, when I found out he has a video-blog.

He claims Maui-Ultra has as much Saturation of tint as the Super-Thin Glass, which is my major complaint about Maui-Pure & Maui-Brilliant, because they are weak-sauce comparatively.

I am singing in the sun about my Kaenon today.
Took the new pair for a drive, it is the Burnet-Mid model with the Ultra Coastal Green, very similar to Costa's Green Mirror, but with a little more punch, if you can imagine that!

another through-the-lens comparison:

somehow the Clarity of their Ultra-SR-1 is better than glass!

but there is also a rosy-violet tinge to the Kaenon lens that is over & above Costa

Here are the actual glasses:

You can see a purplish tint to the mirror.
They came with a really cool stainless-steel clamshell:

thus far I have three Kaenon now & I love this new set so much that I ordered a Arcata-SR last night:

Salton | Burnet | Hard-Kore

The Arcata-SR is the newer design that succeeded the Hard-Kore & has the newer ULTRA version of the lens, which I ordered in Gold Mirror this time, which has the same brown base as all three of these.

Another comparison shot.
& me about to sell up all my Maui Jim

Kaenon Hard Kore on top : C12 Copper (12%VLT)
Maui Jim World Cup : High-Contrast Bronze

& this is the older tech SR-91, not the new SR-91 Ultra
the view from the Hard Kore is just more Vivid & has the same Clarity
It is almost like comparing a grey base-tint lens to a real Bronze/Copper.

Kaenon is just like Oakley when it comes to replacement lens, however.
They are all priced at $90 & for the models I have there simply is no Kaenon replacement.

so, if one gets scratched, it is either buy a whole new pair or get some replacement lens that will not be this great
at $200/set, that is a thinker!

addendum:

they do not scratch as easily as Prizm lens, though

Get yourself a Serengeti frame with the Sedona lens......thank me later.
Is it super-rosy?
more than Oakley Deep Water?

It is difficult for me to find a Serengeti that I like, because I like half-rims & a high base-curve.
From my research, it seems I would likely not be keen on a 555nm lens from Serengeti & I found the Gold Drivers to just be alright. They would be great if I did not have so many others to compare.

The Corrente with Sedona was not an option after all. A friend sent me the link, but we both failed to notice that Add to Cart was not available, because it is discontinued.

I would also suggest Kaenon to you, I am fully impressed. Their green mirror, in SR-91 Ultra, is even better than Costa.
but not impressed with their bot for customer-service

I sent them a message asking about getting a replacement lens for my Burnet-Mid & got an automated response in minutes that did not really answer my question.

I put my first real scratch in a lens over the weekend & have been figuratively kicking myself ever since:

see the little black dot?
if it were anywhere else it would not bother me, but this is right over my pupil~!

I'll get my Serengeti Sedona out of the house and into my car to refresh my memory, before I comment any further.
