Oakley x META: Current and Future Collabs

That's a reasonable price, IMO. Compared to the latest releases, it seems like a nice deal.

So I guess I am one of the few to get to play with the Meta's... here are some answers to questions I see asked...

First the frame and lenses are all that is Oakley so those who fear another MP3 player experience that will not be the case. Meta is what is inside and who actually builds the "workings" of the glasses. These will be supported by META not Lux so you will not be caught in the "we no longer support this item" trap Lux sets.

It is no different than what we already have in our pockets for the govt to spy on us already for those wearing tin foil hats... It is just another avenue for a computer and camera at your finger tips. The only way to avoid possible intrusion is to not have anything in your home with a microphone or camera. These are not different. Just do not wear them when you rob a bank and your ok.

Yes they are bulkier than regular sunglasses but they do have to get the tech inside of it so that is why... weight wise they are no more than a R1 would be.

Here are just a few examples I have talked to the sunglass hut worker at my job about...

Her husband coaches baseball and wears them at practice especially where he standing at the plate. He records the batter and the outfielders reactions to a hit then goes home and breaks the video down by the player at night and develops a individual coaching plan for each team member.

Law enforcement loves these in Memphis because when they are off work or doing a second job like security where they do not have their uniform cams they wear these to record any possible incident they may be involved in.

Users like them to prevent insurance scams while driving, like the car in front of you reversing and then the driver saying you ran into the back of them.

What I know these do so far and I think there is more...
- Takes pics and video
- Has a "Siri/Alexa" feature where you can ask it questions and get AI generated answers right to your ear.
- Scans barcodes when you shop and tells you about the product or better prices somewhere else
- Translates someone speaking a foreign language to your ear so you can converse with them but I am told with the raybans you have to tell them to speak slow and clear for that to work right. Hopefully that gets better with the Oaks cause Im interested in this feature in my job.
- Handles phone calls right to your ear and you can answer your phone through it.
- Listen to your music and the quality of sound is actually pretty good... surprisingly good.
- RX friendly and they offer different transition lenses so you can make them proprietary glasses and wear all day.

Needless to say this is new tech and it will get better and more refined as they improve it. Right now the RB's get 4 hours of play life and require about 40 minutes to recharge but the Oakleys will be double life and half the charge time. The RBs are 2K quality and the Oaks will be 3K. The RBs are kinda ugly... at least the Oaks have some hint of style. I assume as time goes by and new versions come out the arms will get smaller and the frame selections will expand to other models. I am pretty sure the Sphera is a model in the works as well and the HSTN is just the first to be released.

Oakley will focus more on its product being for activity and sports while RB serves the casual users.

Do you know if the regular HSTN lenses can fit this frame?

I do not... I have only had the RayBan in my hand to check out... In fact I was the first to show the workers at the Hut the Oakley version announcement LOL! Judging from the Rayban I would guess no because the orbs are thicker to accommodate the dual cameras so I have to imagine it will be like that with the HSTN
